The overall objective of the Project was to help the Ministry of Transport with putting in place processes and procedures for identify the development needs of three largest ports in the country and apply these procedures to define, identify and assess the feasibility of one major investment project for each port. The projects identified must reduce port congestion, increase the carrying capacity of rail, road and logistical corridor connections to the ports, optimise the ports' cargo handling capacities and improve cargo handling efficiency to allow handling of increased traffic volumes, as well as reduce ship waiting time and associated costs.
