The purpose of this contract was to assist the incumbent utility company (KIB-TEK), which is supplying the Turkish Cypriot community with electrical energy, in improving its commercial operation, preparing for an operation in a competitive energy market, and delivering more reliable electricity supply services.
This is being achieved through:
1. Unbundling transmission at the management and accounting levels, and developing management and operating systems to improve network economics and security of supply;
2. Unbundling distribution and supply at the management and accounting levels, and developing management and operating systems to improve tariff systems, billing and collection, and customer care;
3. Assisting with the monitoring of the supply and set-up of the following procured items:
a) SCADA system for the transmission network;
b) Electrometer laboratory;
c) Electrometer and automated meter reading system (AMR);
d) Network analysis and simulation software;
e) IT-based billing and customer care systems for distribution and supply.
