The Bishkek Water Company provides water and wastewater services to 500,000 domestic and 5,000 private and public customers in the City of Bishkek. Most of the network and pumping infrastructure was more than 30 years old and needed rehabilitation or replacement. This EBRD financed operation was rehabilitating the municipal water supply infrastructure by replacing the most deteriorated sections of the mains and distribution pipes, installing new water disinfection equipment, modernising pumping equipment, providing vehicles for emergency repairs and regular maintenance, installing meters, and rehabilitating the boreholes and water intakes.

Corporate Development Programme for Bishkek Water Company assisted with improving its commercial standing, service and environmental performance by helping identify and implement the necessary corporate, financial and operational improvements required to meet the related covenants included in the EBRD finance documents.
