Bukhara and Samarkand Water Supply Project – Community-based Urban Water Supply Management Project

The Government of Uzbekistan, working through the Bukhara and Samarkand Water Supply Utilities (BVK and SVK) and the Project Coordination Unit (PCU), is undertaking the Bukhara and Samarkand Water Supply Project. The main objective of the project is to improve the standard of water supply services in the cities of Bukhara and Samarkand and to increase the efficiency of the system. The objective of this Consulting Services is to assist Home Owners Associations (HOAs) in establishing sustainable organizational capabilities for lasting improvements of building-internal waters supply installations and appliances by means of homeowners outreach program and other public awareness campaigns; transparent and efficient public reporting; and technical support to the homeowners. The Consulting Services will ensure that infrastructural renovations and improvements funded by the Grant shall, among other things, instigate institutional maturity of HOA’s into self-sustainable organizations, capable in perpetuity of financing and undertaking further maintenance, replacement and improvement of building-internal water supply installations and appliances.
