Atyrau International Airport - Accounts Strengthening and Business Planning |
Atyrau International Airport (AIA) has obtained financing from the EBRD to assist with the construction of a new runway, together with associated investments. The Airport is now considering further expansion involving development of a new passenger and cargo terminal, plus related investments. The Airport has also approached EBRD with a request to consider additional finance for this project. Both projects will facilitate the enhanced provision of international air services, especially to major European destinations. This in turn will involve an expanded role for AIA and new challenges. The purpose of this TA project is to help AIA develop the capacity needed to fulfil its expanded role. This includes assisting the Airport to expand its physical infrastructure in a cost-effective and well-structured manner, and to improve its financial accounting procedures, management practices, and business planning process. |
Kazakhstan : Atyrau Airport Terminal Development Pre Feasibility Study |
The airport at Atyrau is a key transport link in the economic development of Kazakhstan , which is driven by the exploitation of the very substantial hydrocarbon reserves, both onshore and offshore in the western part of the country. Atyrau International Airport received a loan of circa $ US 27 million for the construction of a new 3000 metre runway of design strength suitable for the operation of B737-400 aircraft. This is expected to come into service in mid 2005. The existing passenger terminal is in poor condition and is operating beyond its design capacity of approximately 250 passengers (two way) per hour. Corporate Solutions conducted financial analysis to indicate whether advancing a loan towards the construction of the new passenger terminal would be a potentially attractive lending opportunity, worthy of closer examination. |
