Kazakhstan : Atyrau Airport Terminal Development Pre Feasibility Study
(EBRD: Kazakhstan , 2004-2005)

The airport at Atyrau is a key transport link in the economic development of Kazakhstan , which is driven by the exploitation of the very substantial hydrocarbon reserves, both onshore and offshore in the western part of the country. Atyrau International Airport received a loan of circa $ US 27 million for the construction of a new 3000 metre runway of design strength suitable for the operation of B737-400 aircraft. This is expected to come into service in mid 2005. The existing passenger terminal is in poor condition and is operating beyond its design capacity of approximately 250 passengers (two way) per hour. Corporate Solutions conducted financial analysis to indicate whether advancing a loan towards the construction of the new passenger terminal would be a potentially attractive lending opportunity, worthy of closer examination.
